Annual Dinner Event in Victoria, BC
This year's fundraiser will be a departure from previous events. We have a new and exciting plan to create an entertaining "African Night" of fun, fellowship, music and dance. The event is a fundraiser and our goal is to raise a much needed $20,000 for AIDS care at Mengo.
Twenty table captains will host 9 guests at a cost of $100. The price is steep BUT at previous events we receipted after expenses. This year there will be no cost after the evening because a generous donor is covering all the cost including a sumtous African meal.
This means that our guest receive a tax receipt for the full $100.
To encourage participation from student supporters from Oak Bay and St. Michaels High Schools, they will "fast and dance for Mengo" and collect from donor pledges to cover their $100.
Please plan to attent and remember all donations to FOMH go directly to the clinic to improve care for deserving patients, especially women and children.
"Fast/Dance For Mengo", Victoria - April 30th, 2010

Volunteers
Every year many volunteers from Canada visit Mengo Hospital to implement projects, bring funds and supplies, and contribute to delivering health care services at the hospital. They spend time with the Pastoral Care team providing spiritual support to both patients and staff.
The sense that “we are not alone” is so very important in this work. They also assist the counsellors and clinicians in
the AIDS clinic, the OT department and the medical wards. Sometimes construction skills are needed as we undertake a renovation project.
Canadian Youth Initiatives:
- St Michael’s University School, Victoria, B.C.
- Oak Bay High School, Victoria, B.C.

Volunteers pay their own way and raise funds for their special interests. All volunteers are required to submit a proposal to FOMHC which outlines the contribution they intend to make, and each proposal is evaluated within the context of our current programs and initatives.
